Announcing the next 2019 Maranacook Education Foundation grant recipient....Ernest Colvin, Maranacook High School Science Teacher, who received funding for a project to build a hand-made piece of equipment that would otherwise be unattainable to the Maranacook science department. Purchasing a biolistic gene delivery system (“gene gun”) pre- manufactured traditionally can cost between $17,000 and $30,000, a price point far too high. The grant funds will allow students to experience both building and experimenting with this exciting technology to study basic cell biology, genetics, and molecular biology.
