The next 2019 MEF grant recipients is ... Kristen Levesque, Maranacook Middle School Principal, who received funding to support a morning walking program at the Middle School. Many students at Maranacook Community Middle School “walk the hallways” for exercise before school each morning. Some students arrive as early as 7:30 a.m., enabling them to walk 20-25 minutes, about 1 mile, before school. In this new walking program, students will track the time they walk each morning and log their minutes/miles in their own personalized exercise walking spreadsheet. To encourage this healthy habit, staff will acknowledge and reward those who stay committed throughout the year with MEF funded rewards and incentives. What a great way to promote exercise and wellness at the middle school! Thank you and congratulations, Kristen!
